Glad Tidings

Cover of the program for our 1952-53 tour. We traveled to 46 of the then-48 states, over 150 performances. I played the juvenile role, Terry. Stanley Woolf probably kept more actors employed in the late l940s and ‘50s than any other producer. In the summers, he maintained several companies headquartered at Liberty, N.Y., which went out on a rotating basis to the Catskills resort hotels of the Borscht Circuit. And in winters, he sent out four crisscrossing productions on lengthy national tours like ours. Thus, there were actors who worked for Stanley year-round, at modest but steady Equity Minimum wages.
