The beginning and the end of “Lionel Garamond.” L., Lionel’s debut, as the Vicar in Britten’s Albert Herring, Hunter Opera Ass’n., 1965. R., his farewell, two years later. He did emerge from retirement, however, as a nom de plume in a dispute with Soviet cultural authorities (see “Story of a Real Rewrite,” High Fidelity, Sept., 1975). And Peter Hunt, lighting designer for Jongleur, became the Artistic Director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival during most of my seasons there.
