NEXT TIME: I’ll be taking a week’s vacation in mid-July, so the next post will be three weeks hence, July 27. I’m going to be dealing with some of the questions, responses, and friendly argumentations on terminology, vocal technique, and other matters I’ve received recently from readers. I sometimes lose track of the fact that my ways of defining and describing can be sui generis to a fault, and further that some of the more commonly shared language of voice professionals (who do not invariably agree among themselves) is not always clear even to musically and operatically educated devotees. So I’ll try to clarify my views on the shared lingo, and append a little CLO glossary that will serve for readers of both Osborne on Opera and Opera as Opera.
