NEXT TIME: My plan (I can say only that, under the present circumstances) is to conclude the Holländer article, with some observations about the opera’s step into modernity with its production at Berlin’s Kroll Opera in the 1920s, under Otto Klemperer; about Klemperer’s much later recording of the work; about some of the singers of Holländer‘s recorded history, and their suitability for the opera’s roles; and to append a list of my references, on this Friday, Apr. 10. And I shall announce then my intentions for the next full post.
